The Chicago Blackhawks took a major leap of faith with the signing of Frank Nazar to a 7 year contract, but it's already paying off for Chicago and GM Kyle Davidson.

The Chicago Blackhawks took a tremendous leap of faith when they decided to sign forward Frank Nazar to a new 7 year contract despite his having not even appeared in 60 total NHL games.
The deal pays him an AAV (average annual value) of $6.59 million, and will come out to more money than Wayne Gretzky made over the course of his own NHL career. Even though we're now in a completely different era of NHL hockey, it's still a surprising stat.
But so far, Nazar has proven to be worth every penny, even though the new contract doesn't kick in until next season.
So far this year, Nazar has 9 points (4G, 5A) and is on pace for 91 points, which would easily be a new career best for him.

NHL analysts love what Nazar is bringing to the Balckhawks

The Nazar contract is paying off for the Blackhawks, who are now 4-2-2 through the opening 8 games of the new season under new coach Jeff Blashill.
NHL analyst Tyler Yaremchuk, while speaking on Friday's edition of The Daily Faceoff Live, explained he loves the value that Nazar is providing for the Blackhawks.
If you do the percentage of the cap thing here with that Nazar extension, by Year 5 of that deal, he'll be making the equivalent percentage of what a current player is at $4.87 million. So, I hope that makes sense. Imagine five years from now, you have a guy in Nazar who's probably going to be in the 90-100 point range, and he's making the equivalent of what is $4.8 million in today's cap world. That is insane value.

The Blackhawks are building around 2023 1st overall pick Connor Bedard and Nazar, and so far, their potential looks extremely promising.
