Both Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar of the Chicago Blackhawks are going against the team's timeline and say they're ready to start winning now, not later.
As the Chicago Blackhawks continue rebuilding, they've clearly made Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar 2 of their baseline pieces to build around.
Bedard was the
1st overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, while Nazar was recently signed to a lengthy extension despite having barely played over 50 career NHL games.
Bedard
isn't interested in waiting until the future for the Blackhawks to start winning, as he said after the Blackhawks' win over the divisional foe St. Louis Blues on Wednesday.
We want to win. We don't want to win in three years. We want to win now. We just got to work hard and play our game and not kind of deviate from that. ... You win some, you lose some, but if we stick to what we are, then I think we'll be good.
Nazar said the win over the Blues was fun, especially over a divisional foe that was in the playoffs last year.
It was a lot of fun. Obviously, felt really sweet to go out there and put up a good number against a team like that, obviously a playoff-contending team. It was really good there.

Bedard is in the last year of his contract and is projected to receive a new lengthy contract as he continues being the face of the Blackhawks.
Nazar also signed a 7 year contract with the Blackhawks for more total money than Wayne Gretzky made in his entire NHL career, which is a massive leap of faith on Chicago's part considering Nazar hasn't even reached 70 career NHL games played.
They may not be a playoff team this year, but the could eventually make the leap into the postseason before long.
