Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane suffered an upper-body injury during the team's 2-1 win against their rivals, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the latest update isn't good.
Patrick Kane hasn't suited up for a game since the Red Wings' 2-1 OT win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 17th.
He's left the team as they take on their West Coast road trip.
That night, he'd play a total of 17:42 on ice and 2 shots on goal. Not a great night for a legendary player.
Patrick Kane's Status Update From the Detroit Red Wings
The latest update posted by Michael Whitaker of The Hockey News:
Kane is a player who offers a lot to the Red Wings' lineup.
In terms of leadership capabilities and offensive prowess, the team is missing him.
With the latest update, there remains hope he could make a potential appearance on the team's next West Coast road trip.
The 6-4 win over the St. Louis Blues was a great display of fortitude on the ice by a team that's been doubted over the last 6 years. Kane is a part of the team's resiliency when times are tough, as a three-time Stanley Cup champion and veteran.
For now,
"Showtime" on ice is sidelined, while the Red Wings and McLellan make do with substitutes. The team has playoff hopes, and he'll need to be healthy to help make the push a reality.
Kane signed a 1-year, $3 million deal with the team during free agency, and this could be his final push with the team for a playoff spot should things go sour.
