NHL legend will play final game at the United Center on Sunday

The Chicago Blackhawks have managed to gain some momentum recently, going undefeated over the past week.

Connor Bedard, Frank Nazar, and Spencer Knight are showing a lot of growth on the ice so far this season and will look to lead the team to victory once again tonight in Chicago against the Los Angeles Kings.

That game will be a great test for the Hawks' young core, but it will also mark the final time Anze Kopitar plays in Chicago.

Anze Kopitar, 38, announced that the 2025-26 season will be the last of his NHL career.

Unless the Blackhawks and Kings end up meeting in the playoffs, or he follows the path of other former NHL greats who decided to continue playing for another season, such as Marc-André Fleury and Patrice Bergeron, tonight will be Kopitar's last game at the United Center.

Bedard and Kopitar will meet for two more matchups this season, on December 4 and 6, but both games will take place in Los Angeles.

This will be Blackhawks fans' ultimate opportunity to recognize Kopitar's legendary 20-season career.

Captain of the Kings for the last decade, Kopitar won two Stanley Cups in Los Angeles and multiple individual awards, including two Selke and three Lady Byng Trophies.

In 1,459 regular-season games, he has scored 440 goals and 842 assists. He has also added 89 points in 103 playoff games.

This season, he has recorded four points, all assists, in five games. He missed four games due to a foot injury but returned to the lineup last night in the Kings' 5-4 shootout loss to the Nashville Predators.

While this will be a historic night for Kopitar and the city of Chicago, Bedard and the Blackhawks will do all they can to win.
