Stir erupts after Blackhawks Connor Bedard refuses to get off the ice after getting cut open
Even though things appeared bleak for Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard last night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, he was the one who got the last laugh as Chicago won 3-2.
Are the Chicago Blackhawks back? That's the question that Blackhawks fans are asking right now after they won their 4th game of the year, this time by beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 last night in Tampa Bay.
There was also a worrying scene early in the 3rd period as Connor Bedard was high-sticked and needed to go to the bench for repairs, as it immediately drew blood.
In fact, he wasn't able to skate on the ensuing PP because they weren't able to stop the bleeding in time, and it would violate NHL rules for him to be on the ice still leaking like he was.
But it was Bedard and the Blackhawks who got the last laugh thanks to the 3rd-period GWG from
Ryan Donato.
The Blackhawks are now 4-2-2 under 1st-year head coach Jeff Blashill, who had spent the last 3 years on the Lightning bench as an assistant coach under Jon Cooper.
New Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill picked up the win over his old team
The Blackhawks have now won 4 of 5 games, and it had to feel good for Blashill to get the upper hand on his old team.
"I thought we worked extremely hard, competed extremely hard. We made some mistakes. And when [we] make mistakes, Knight has been great. He makes big saves at big moments, and it gives us a chance to win."
The Blackhawks will go for their 5th win when they bring in the Los Angeles Kings to the United Center on Sunday.
