Trade talks between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs are heating up involving an intriguing asset.
There have been a lot of rumors involving a potential trade away from the Chicago Blackhawks organization for the team's 17th overall pick in 2020, Lukas Reichel.
He was linked to multiple teams on the market, such as the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, and Toronto Maple Leafs, but most scenarios involve a one-for-one deal with another player who'd benefit from a fresh start.
"The Blackhawks have their own young, promising forward, Lukas Reichel, who has not exactly panned out as hoped and is now on the trade block. A lot of times, when you're talking about dealing players like Reichel or Othmann, they end up getting swapped for one another because it's really the only type of move that makes sense."
Now, another proposal has emerged.
Elliotte Friedman Links Chicago Blackhawks To Toronto Maple Leafs For One-on-One Trade
After years of rumors, the 24-year-old forward Nick Robertson appears on the verge of finally being traded away from the Leafs organization.
According to the renowned insider Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been exploring their options to trade him, notably to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Yegor Chinakhov.
Friedman added that the Blue Jackets weren't interested, but the option remains on the table, and the same thing goes for Lukas Reichel in Chicago.
"Toronto is investigating options for Nick Robertson. At some point in the summer, they pitched a move for Yegor Chinakhov, but that wasn't to the Blue Jackets' liking. That file remains open in Columbus, however. Same with Lukas Reichel in Chicago."
