Last night we seen one of the biggest trades in recent history between the Calgary Flames and Florida Panthers. The Flames obviously had to trade Matthew Tkachuk while the Florida Panthers decided to make a bold move after a disappointing playoff run.
However it seems most of the feedback from Florida Panthers fans has been very negative to say the least. Johnathan Huberdeau was one of the best Florida Panthers players of all-time and was easily one of the most liked players by fans. Despite the negativity by Panthers fans General Manager Bill Zito believed this was the right decision going forward for the organization signing Tkachuk to a 8 year $76 million dollar contract extension.
Let's not forget Johnathan Huberdeau and Mackenzie Weegar both had just one year remaining on their contacts before possibly becoming unrestricted free agents. Zito had to feel Huberdeau might not of re-signed and being a 100 point player will definitely be highly sought after in the free agent market.
With every trade there's useally a winner and a loser like most deals it takes a year or two to see who won. But as it seems right now on paper the Florida Panthers fans didn't fare so well and Panthers fans seem to feel that way also.
Here's some of the Florida Panthers fans reactions on Twitter check it out.
