The Chicago Blackhawks don't have Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane anymore, but the team feels comfortable with their young players being able to communicate.

Even though the Chicago Blackhawks don't have players like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane on the team anymore, the young players are feeling at ease about getting to communicate as needed with one another.
Veteran Pat Maroon, who was a vocal leader, retired after last year, but even so, the Blackhawks feel that their communication with one another has been positive so far.
Wyatt Kaiser talked about the calmer nature of the team and how when something goes wrong, it just needs to be fixed by having a conversation rather than constant yelling.
"Sometimes you have a quieter team. There's guys hanging out and talking in their groups, [but] you don't have guys yelling down the bench all the time. ... Yeah, [things must be said] if something happens or if someone needs to keep someone accountable, but it's not yelling. A guy just goes and talks to them.

Connor Murphy, who is the longest-tenured Blackhawks player, agrees that communication is extremely important.

It's about time and place. It doesn't need to be someone yelling on the bench. It's about being upbeat and communicative with linemates and with each other about things, and getting up for [big] moments. ... This year on the bench, I feel good energy."

Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane are both Hall of Famers

Even though neither Toews nor Kane plays for Chicago anymore, their place as Chicago sports legends is already confirmed.
Both players helped lead the Blackhawks to 3 Stanley Cups during their time in Chicago, and they'll both have their sweater numbers hung from the rafters at the United Center when their careers end.
