Chicago Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill isn't happy with this team's overall game despite having won 2 games in a row after starting the year 0-2-1, and knows they have more in them.
The Chicago Blackhawks didn't get off to the best of starts under new head coach Jeff Blashill, losing 3 straight games to begin the year. But since then, they've managed to get back to the .500 mark by winning 2 straight.
Even so, Blashill knows that there is more inside of them if they want to reach their goals of eventually being a playoff team.
"We talked about it today: 2-2-1 is not a playoff team. 2-2-1 is not where guys want to be. We had a good win the other night, but that's over. Let's move forward here against Vancouver."
- Jeff Blashill
The Blackhawks scored
5 unanswered goals against the divisional foe St. Louis Blues in what was an 8-3 win at Enterprise Center, and they now will play the Vancouver Canucks, who recently beat the Dallas Stars 5-3, at United Center.
The Blackhawks hired Jeff Blashill because of his developmental skills
The Blackhawks decided to hire Jeff Blashill, who had spent the last 3 years as an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning, as the full-time replacement for Anders Sorenson, who remained on the staff as an assistant.
Blashill already has head coaching experience in the NHL, having previously been the coach of the former divisional foe Detroit Red Wings for several years; he took over from Mike Babcock in 2015 and remained behind Detroit's bench until 2022.
Blashill also won the Calder Cup with the Grand Rapids Griffins and started his NHL coaching tenure with a reputation for being able to develop young talent, which the Blackhawks have plenty of.
