Chicago Blackhawks announce signing in goal that speculates a major move is in motion
The Chicago Blackhawks have completed a signing of a 25-year old Illinois-raised goaltender on Thursday that raises question throughout the organization.
Following a leaked announcement from the
AHL transactions page, the Blackhawks have signed 25-year old goaltender Nicholas Grabko to a professional tryout, and curiosity is now raised.
Grabko played five seasons of college hockey for Alaska-Fairbanks and Bentley University, appearing in 20-games this past season, registering a 5-11-4 record alongside a 2.74 goals against average, a .899 save percentage and a shutout.
This is surely an odd signing by the organization, which hints at something exciting for Blackhawks fans in the works, and it revolves around the organizations top goaltender prospect who is currently with the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL (American Hockey League).
As the youth-movement is in full affect with the recent NHL debuts of former first round picks
Sam Rinzel and
Oliver Moore, it appears the organization highest-ranked goaltending prospect could be getting the call-up in no time.
Roster move signals Drew Commesso recall to the Chicago Blackhawks
Former 46th overall pick in 2020, Drew Commesso, might just be on his way to Washington for their next game against the Capitals tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
The 6-foot 187lb Grabko signing for the IceHogs doesn't make much sense with healthy goaltender in the AHL, but in regards to a potential Drew Commesso NHL debut, this totally checks out.
