Blackhawks' draft picks are set for the first round.
One of the lesser stories in the NHL is where teams that did not make the playoffs will finish in terms of their draft position. All non-playoff teams wait to see how the contenders will finish the standings after being knocked out in each round.
Teams like the Chicago Blackhawks have made trades at the trade deadline that have conditional draft picks that will tell them where that draft pick will finish whether it's in the first or second round or further down.
The Blackhawks now know where their draft position will be thanked for winning the NHL draft lottery being the winner and they will finish 19th for their second first-round choice.
The NHL draft like any other professional sport, can be used to help a team that's looking to rebuild to acquire more draft picks than they already have.
Some teams will take their higher draft pick and trade back a few spots if not several spots to acquire additional picks in the second and third rounds while giving a player to that team to help them now.
General manager Kyle Davidson may do this as he continues to bolster his draft lineup and try to acquire as many good players as possible, especially in this draft that's supposed to be the deepest one in 20 years.
Time will tell to see how he does. The draft will be held on June 28th and 29th.
