Dad of Blackhawks young forward takes on hockey operations job with the Oilers organization

Not more than 24 hours after the Chicago Blackhawks lost in overtime to the Edmonton Oilers, the Stanley Cup contenders hired Landon Slaggert's father in a hockey operations role.
Landon Slaggert has been a fixture in the Blackhawks' bottom six this season.
This was after playing a total of 33 games with the team in 2024-25.
He'd score 6 points (2-4) in that time frame and has made the opening night lineup out of camp.

Last night against the Oilers, when the team needed him the most, he played a total of 9:11 minutes last night, taking 13 shifts, and leaving the ice without a shot on goal.
The former Notre Dame Fighting Irish captain, Slaggert, has had a rocky start to the year.
He'd only recently returned from a lower-body injury.
According to a recent report, Slaggert's father will be joining the team as Director of North American recruiting:

Landon's dad was an assistant coach for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 1992 to 2017 before being promoted to associate coach before the 2017 season began.

Andy's record of success at Notre Dame led to his hiring by the Edmonton Oilers, as GM Stan Bowman looks to augment the team for the future.
Slaggert will have a hand in building the next Oilers team.
Forward Landon Slaggert signed a two-year contract with the Blackhawks in 2024 and will be a key piece in the team's future.
