BREAKING - Blackhawks Announce Veteran is Done For The Year
The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Wednesday that Colin Blackwell underwent successful sports hernia surgery in New York. The surgery was deemed necessary after Blackwell had been dealing with a nagging injury throughout the season.
Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, the surgery means that Blackwell's season is over. He is expected to be out for approximately 12 weeks, which would extend well beyond the end of the regular season.
Blackwell had been a key player for the Blackhawks this season, appearing in 42 games and contributing with 10 goals and 8 assists. His absence will be felt by the team, but they will have to find a way to move forward without him.
Sports hernias can be a difficult injury to recover from, but with successful surgery and rehabilitation, players can often return to the ice at full strength. Blackwell will likely spend the next few months focusing on his recovery and preparing for next season.
In the meantime, the Blackhawks will have to rely on other players to step up and fill the void left by Blackwell's absence. It's never easy to lose a key player, but the team will have to find a way to persevere and finish the season strong.
