Ex-Blackhawks fan favorite suffers injury just two weeks into the NHL season
A former Chicago Blackhawks fan favorite suffered an injury just two weeks into the NHL season.
Patrick Kane left the Chicago Blackhawks organization over three years ago, but with what he accomplished in his time with the Blackhawks, it's not surprising to know that Hawks fans are still keeping tabs on him even if he's currently playing for another team.
The 36-year-old veteran entered his 20th NHL season, his third as a member of the Detroit Red Wings, with high expectations.
He's at a stage of his career where winning is the only option.
Unfortunately, he won't be able to help his team as they battle the Edmonton Oilers on the ice later today.
Patrick Kane Out Of The Lineup Today Against The Oilers
The Detroit Red Wings won their last four straight games after the tough home opener against the Montreal Canadiens.
The team is on a roll, largely due to the veteran's impact on the lineup.
Today, the team will look to extend its winning streak to five games but will have to do so without Kane.
The veteran left the Wings' last game against the Tampa Bay Lightning after a dangerous collision with the boards toward the end of the game.
As of now, the Oilers aren't off to the start they've been expecting, with only two wins after five games.
It'll be interesting to see who'll get the upper hand on the ice considering the high pressure in Edmonton and the injuries to the Wings' key players.
