The Blackhawks are set to re-sign general manager Kyle Davidson, making him the next major signing by the team that doesn't include Connor Bedard, taken with the 1st overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

The Chicago Blackhawks are reportedly set for a major new contract extension, but it's not going to be for Connor Bedard, who was taken with the 1st overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
Per reports by Pro Hockey Rumors, the Blackhawks are getting set to extend general manager Kyle Davidson, who has picked up some cornerstone pieces through the NHL Draft like Bedard along with this year's pick Anton Frondell.
With so many negotiations on the horizon, Chicago appears to be moving towards an extension with general manager Kyle Davidson, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman on the latest 32 Thoughts Podcast.

The Blackhawks expressed confidence in Davidson earlier this month. Team owner Danny Wirtz told Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times that, «Everything Kyle set out to do, he continues to deliver on.» That statement seems to suggest that the Blackhawks' brass are okay bearing through a couple more difficult seasons, with eyes on a big boom a few years away. It seems that confidence will lead to Chicago cementing Davidson's overseer role sooner rather than later.

Kyle Davidson has been Blackhawks GM since Stan Bowman resigned

Davidson worked his way up in the organization, eventually getting named assistant to then-GM Stan Bowman.
But after his resignation following the Kyle Beach scandal coming to light in 2021, Davidson took over on an interim basis and was eventually named the full time GM.
Among the moves he's made as GM include firing Jeremy Colliton and Luke Richardson as head coach, and hiring Jeff Blashill.
He also acquired Spencer Knight from the Florida Panthers, Andre Burakovsky from the Seattle Kraken, and signed Frank Nazar to a 7 year contract.
