Three time Stanley Cup Champion has unexpectedly quit on the Chicago Blackhawks after an alleged altercation
An NHL veteran of 800-plus games with the Chicago Blackhawks was set to retire at the end of the season, but after what appears to be a potential rift between the forward and coaching staff, he's calling it quits quite early.
The Chicago Blackhawks do not have much to play for with only three games remaining in the 2024-25 NHL regular season, but they still continue to hold a respected forward out of the lineup.
NHL vet
Pat Maroon announced just last month that he will indeed be retiring at the end of this season, and the emotions were quite high.
Despite playing in his final few games, which he revealed that he will be cherishing, the Blackhawks have healthy scratched him for consecutive games.
"I'm just going to finish this year like every game is my last game, you know, I'm going to play as hard as I can,"
Maroon said while announcing his retirement.
This has rubbed many fans the wrong way, and certainly Pat Maroon himself, as he has decided to call it quits quite earlier than expected.
Maroon will not play in the team's remaining games and will have an early retirement.
With a very impressive and respected career under his belt, you would expect an organization with nothing to lose at this time of year to have him in the lineup for the remaining games before retirement, as they've done all season.
But Maroon was suddenly removed from the lineup just shortly after announcing his retirement, and now he will be leaving the league he once cherished shortly.
The Blackhawks disrespected their 3x cup champion during his video tribute on Sunday in his final game, who knew the lowest of lows could get worse.
