Chicago Blackhawks ultimately disrespect Pat Maroon in what should've been his final games in the NHL
The Chicago Blackhawks have been facing controversy after the decision to healthy scratch a well-respected NHL veteran during his final games in the league.
Fans noticed something was off when the Blackhawks took on the
Pittsburgh Penguins in their back-to-back matchup, and it's ultimately a low-blow shot at a longtime veteran.
The coaching staff, led by interim head coach Anders Sorensen, has removed Pat Maroon from their lineup despite the 36-year old father playing in his final NHL season before
retiring.
Maroon has spent 15 years in the NHL and recently announced his departure from the NHL, which will take place at the end of this season, as he would like to enjoy time with his wife and kids. But Maroon stated himself he's cherishing these last games, and the Blackhawks show zero care towards it.
"I'm just going to finish this year like every game is my last game, you know, I'm going to play as hard as I can,"
Said Maroon when announcing his retirement on March 22.
Sadly for Maroon, there are now only four games left until the Blackhawks' season will be officially ended, and he's been sitting comfortably in the press box for two of them.
He continues to show up to morning skates each day, while even being deemed as an 'extra' in practices, rotating in the odd time.

Some may view the situation as it's strictly business in the NHL, and the better players are deserving of the most ice time. Which is leaving more fans confused by this decision from the coaching staff, as Maroon has played very well in his last few weeks in the NHL, tallying up points on the score sheet as well.
The Blackhawks are now set to face-off against Maroon's former team on Thursday, the Boston Bruins, and fans can only hope the team inserts him back into the lineup as he deserves.
