Trade completed between the Chicago Blackhawks and Seattle Kraken: It's a win for Kyle Davidson
The trade for former 2x Stanley Cup-winning forward Andre Burakovsky is starting to pay off for the Chicago Blackhawks, who acquired him from the Seattle Kraken.
The Chicago Blackhawks went out and got some additional help for
Connor Bedard, who was taken with the 1st overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
They acquired forward Andre Burakovsky from the Seattle Kraken, sending them Joe Veleno back in return over the summer.
Veleno was then immediately bought out by the Kraken and signed by the Montreal Canadiens, his hometown team.
Burakovsky helped the Blackhawks
pick up their 1st win of the new season against the Utah Mammoth at United Center and so far has 3 points (2G, 1A) in his 1st 4 games in a Blackhawks sweater.
The Blackhawks appreciate Burakovsky's calmness with the puck
Burakovsky has already demonstrated a calmness carrying the puck and making plays, something that comes with the experience of having already won 2 Stanley Cups in his career.

"The poise is important. He is calm with [the puck], and he's done a good job of managing it. The balance on being calm is you don't try to make something out of nothing when you run out of room, and he's done a good job of that."

Burakovsky won the Stanley Cup with both the Washington Capitals and Colorado Avalanche, a championship experience that the Blackhawks think can eventually help them return to prominence.
It should eventually be a positive acquisition by GM Kyle Davidson, who still has lots of work to do before the Blackhawks can be considered contenders again.
