Chicago Blackhawks ultimately disrespect three-time Stanley Cup Champion during retirement video tribute
The Chicago Blackhawks had two NHL veterans playing in their final game before entering retirement on Saturday night Winnipeg Jets, but one was ultimately disrespected by the video tribute delivered on the United Center jumbotron.
Two longtime veterans who are both three-time Stanley Cup Champions,
Alec Martinez and
Patrick Maroon decide to hang up the skates and both were delivered rough endings by the Chicago Blackhawks.
An
alleged altercation in Chicago erupted after the coaching staffs controversial decision to healthy scratch Pat Maroon in what were his final games before retiring and becoming a full-time dad.
When announcing his retirement, Maroon even stated he was set to give his all during his final few games in the NHL, which were stolen from him as he was healthy scratched consecutive times for the first time this season, which ironically only happened after announcing he's calling it a career.
If that didn't strike many as disrespectful, just wait until you see the Chicago Blackhawks' compiled video tribute for longtime veteran Alec Martinez, who is also retiring from the NHL after a historic career.
Blackhawks leave out Alec Martinez's most historic career moment in video tribute before retirement
In what was his final game, the United Center jumbotron showcased a video tribute for the 37-year-old.
Martinez's goal, which
NHL.COM has stated it as his most memorable career moment, was against the Chicago Blackhawks.
But after spending 17 seasons in the NHL and playing in your final game, you would expect some sort of respect towards such a great moment while your family is in attendance witnessing your final NHL.
