During the Chicago Blackhawks' win over the Utah Mammoth on Monday night, the lights at the United Center momentarily went dark right as the play was going on.
The Chicago Blackhawks picked up their 1st win of the new season, beating the Utah Mammoth 3-1 at United Center on Monday, but it wasn't the win that was making most of the headlines.
The incident took place with just under 6 minutes left in the 1st period.
It will definitely go on the NHL blooper reel and is among the stranger occurrences in an NHL game in recent memory.
Jeff Blashill got his 1st win as Blackhawks head coach
Even despite the brief power outage in the 1st period, the Blackhawks managed to get their 1st win of the new season.
Two goals from
Ilya Mikheyev and one from new Blackhawks forward
Andre Burakovsky, acquired in a trade over the summer from the Seattle Kraken for Joe Veleno, helped Chicago end their losing streak.
"It's nice. The biggest thing I would say is I really, really like this group. I like them as people. I like them as competitors. I like them as athletes and how they work in what they want. They're a group that wants to have better days than what they've had. They've shown that with their work ethic and their ability to come back day in and day out and, honestly, take a lot of coaching."
Blashill is in his 1st year behind the Blackhawks bench after having spent the last 3 years as an assistant with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
