On March 7th, Blackhawks forward Ryan Donato learned his fate with the organization as they opted to keep him despite numerous reports circulating that he would be traded at the NHL trade deadline.
Donato may be punching the air at that decision as he and the Blackhawks have only won one game since then, losing seven straight games.
Blackhawks eliminated from playoffs
The Blackhawks were eliminated from playoff contention for the fifth consecutive season this week, and team morale appears to be at an all-time low.
Ryan Donato's outburst
Donato, 28, is riding a career-high point total and goal scoring season, but that doesn't play any factor in his current frustrations with the team. On Saturday, he went on a stick smashing spree as the Blackhawks were losing against the St. Louis Blues
The forward was hauled down by Blues defenseman Cam Fowler on a very blatant missed penalty by the officials, and what happened next was somewhat embarrassing for Donato.
Donato did his best impression as a baseball player, but unfortunately for him, he was thrown a curveball and launched a 'swing and a miss'.
As fellow teammate to Donato, Pat Maroon, announced his retirement prior to puck drop against the Blues, we can only hope for a more positive ending to the season moving forward.
The Blackhawks and Flyers faceoff at 3:00 p.m today, just shortly after Donato's outburst and Chicago's loss to the Blues.
