Major development has surfaced in GM Kyle Davidson being fired following Blackhawks elimination from playoffs

The Blackhawks currently sit at a record of 20-39-9, with 49 points, sitting second to last place in front of the San Jose Sharks. Chicago is on track to finish second to last, which tops last year's third to last place finish.

The Sharks are already eliminated from playoff contention, and unfortunately, the Blackhawks may follow, as with a loss to the Los Angeles Kings tonight, they'll be the second team eliminated from playoff contention, which isn't a surprise at all.

All throughout Kyle Davidson's tenure, he hasn't had a good, competent coach. Jeremy Colliton, the hiring of Luke Richardson, and the disaster of an interim run with Anders Sorensen.

This next coaching hire has to bang for Davidson because if it doesn't, people will start questioning him and not the coach.

The coaching situation is hurting Connor Bedard, too, as there's no consistency with his lines. Under Luke Richardson and Sorensen, it feels like he's had 40 different combinations for each one.

Plus, Kyle's free agent signings haven't really panned out, either. Sure, they're veterans just to get you across, but you look at the terms of the re-signings and question if they're really worth it. Plus, he's starting to get cute with the four-year contract lengths right off the bat.

It's really easy to tear down a team. You just trade the players, tank, and rebuild. But this is the tough part; putting the pieces together and gearing up to compete again.

This off-season is the biggest off-season Davidson has ever had. He has to make a splash in free agency, but most importantly, the coaching carousel has to stop.

If he doesn't do right by the team this time around, should we start questioning his job security?
