The Winnipeg Jets have completed a transaction involving the former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews ahead of tonight's season opener.

Winnipeg Jets Share Update On Jonathan Toews Before First Game Of The Season
The Jets will kick off the 2025-26 season tonight against the Dallas Stars following a disappointing ending to an impressive 2024-25 regular calendar.
Earlier today, it was confirmed that Jonathan Toews will take part in the game, marking his first NHL game in nearly three years, at 37 years old.
Fans are eager to see what he will bring on the ice tonight, although what will truly be fun to watch is how he performs throughout the season.
"It's been a lot of fun slowly getting to know guys; that's something that'll take a little while to get settled and comfortable in the locker room. In a way, you want to show your respects, especially to the veteran guys in this locker room that set the tone and the example for this team every day. I want to slowly find my way and contribute where I can and find ways to earn that respect and my stripes with this group too."
It won't be an easy first game for Toews, as he faces the Dallas Stars, who are poised for a great season under new head coach Glen Gulutzan.
