Hockey community mourns the tragic passing of longtime player and captain at age 54

The hockey community has been dealt saddening news in the passing of longtime player and captain Toby Chamberlain earlier this week.
It has been a week of
devastating losses in the hockey world and the community is mourning.
At 54 years of age, longtime hockey player and a team captain of Great Britain has passed away.
Toby Chamberlain cemented his name in the small-hockey world that Great Britain has throughout an eleven year career which saw him suit up for the Bournemouth Stags, Swindon Wildcats, Bracknell Bees and even on the international level with his country at the 1988-89 World Junior Championship where he donned the captaincy letter on his chest.
In his long career, Toby reached the postseason four times in hopes to earn the Autumn Cup, a sought-after trophy in the British hockey scene.
His former Swindon Wildcats team shared the following heartfelt statement:
The Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats were saddened to learn of the death of former player Toby Chamberlain earlier this week.
Chamberlain started his hockey career in the early 1980s in his hometown club Bournemouth Stags alongside his brother, Luke. He answered the call of former teammate Daryl Lipsey to join the Wildcats in 1987, featuring in over 100 games for the club as a fan favourite, no-nonsense defenceman.
The club extends their sincerest heartfelt condolences to Toby's family and friends at this sad time.
Toby is remembered as a fiercely competitive player, a talented and great guy on and off the ice.
We would send to send our heartfelt condolences to the Chamberlain family throughout this devastating time.
Rest in peace, Toby Chamberlain.
