The hockey world is mourning after a 16-season pro hockey goaltender has lost his life far too soon at the age of 41.
Former Italian-born goaltender
Thomas Commisso, a lifelong pro hockey goaltender has tragically passed away.
Commisso suited up in hundreds of games throughout his career that spanned between 2002 and 2019, having a significant career.
The netminder started his hockey journey with his hometown team, Italian pro hockey with HC Bolzano, then began to play for the Siebeneich/Settequerce, Bolzano II, Kaltern/Caldaro, Pustertal/Val Pusteria Pergine, EV Bozen 84 and ended with Pergine.
The organization that gave him his first shot between the pipes in 2002, HC Bolzano, delivered the emotional news on social media.
"HCB Alto Adige Alperia learns with deep sadness the news of the premature disappearance of Thomas Commisso, aged 41.
Thomas, after the youngsters in the white and red shirt, had debuted in the first team, with which he played a total of 30 games between 2002 and 2013.
As a backup of the Foxes he won one Copa Italy and two Italian Supercups.
The whole society holds the family in a sincere hug at this moment of great pain. Rest in peace."
Commisso won the Serie B Championship in 2007 and won two Italian Super Cups, alongside a Coppa Italia trophy.
