NHL Insider Frank Servalli on Bleacher Report has the latest news that forward Luke Reichel of the Chicago Blackhawks will be traded by next week for a mid-round pick.
His latest update on the former 1st-round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks has Seravalli placing him on
a new NHL team, after rosters are finalized.
The return for Reichel, unfortunately, will be minuscule, as the former 1st-round pick hasn't lived up to his draft selection in the league, and the team will receive a mid-round pick.
Not much for someone who was supposed to be a top-six forward in the best hockey league in the world.
"Frank Seravalli: Re Lukas Reichel rumours: They are working on a deal to have him land somewhere likely before next week when rosters are completed; this is not gonna be a big return, we're talking probably a mid to late round pick - Bleacher Report (9/30)"
Lukas Reichel To Find A New Home in the NHL?
Rechel's struggles in the league have been well-documented, as we've seen him jump up and down the lineup between the AHL and the NHL a season prior.
He hasn't been able to earn a full-time spot in the lineup, and last season was used sparingly, as the German forward fought to maintain a roster spot on the fourth line.
His friend and mentor Pat Maroon would do his best to give his career a new life, but he wasn't able to find a way to make it work in Chicago.
Now, it appears that he'll be
traded next week, and could find a better spot for him to develop, as Chicago hasn't been the right spot.
In 70 games for the Blackhawks, he scored 22 points (8-14) and was a former 17th overall pick in 2020.
