NHL officially announces All-Star Game replacement event: Don't get your hopes up

Fans who wanted the return of the NHL All-Star Game after the League skipped it last year for the 4 Nations Faceoff are going to be disappointed.
The NHL decided to forgo the traditional All-Star Game last year and instead played the highly successful 4 Nations Faceoff, which involved Canada, the United States, Sweden and Finland.
For fans who were hoping that the NHL All-Star Game would return this year, they're going to be disappointed.
Per a new report, the NHL is going to be hosting an NFL-style media day as a sendoff for the players who will be participating in the 2026 Milan Olympics, which are the 1st time since 2014 that NHL players are in the Olympics.
NHL plans to host Super Bowl-style media day event as Olympics send-off at UBS Arena to replace 2026 All Star weekend. Will be open to public with players and coaches appearing on arena floor before traveling to Milan.
Gary Bettman promised a re-evaluation of the All-Star Game
We're reevaluating how we want to do things because I think we've raised the bar about as high as you can for an All-Star Game in any sport. We want to make sure whatever we do is up to the standards that we've created.
NHL players haven't participated in the Winter Olympics since 2014 at Sochi, when Canada once again took home the gold medal after defeating Sweden in the deciding contest.
