The latest update from the Winnipeg Jets on the injury of former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews didn't sound good.

Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is back in the NHL after signing a 1-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets, his hometown team.
But his comeback attempt is already in danger of getting off on the wrong foot.
Toews was hurt against the Minnesota Wild after playing in just 10 minutes, and he wasn't able to come back to the game.
Per head coach Scott Arniel, Toews tweaked something during the game and was therefore unable to keep playing.
The Jets will only know more on Thursday.
This is devastating for Toews, who spent years preparing for an NHL comeback and improving his health.
"He just tweaked something. Off day tomorrow, and we'll get a look at him Thursday and find out what it is."

Toews already suffering an injury before he's even officially played a game in a Jets sweater is a cause for concern for Winnipeg.

Jonathan Toews is back in the NHL

Toews hasn't played in the NHL since April of 2023, when he was still with the Chicago Blackhawks.
He was told he would not be re-signed by the team that he captained to 3 Stanley Cups, officially signaling the end of an era of successful Chicago hockey.
The Jets won the President's Trophy as the best regular season team last year, but were eliminated in the WCSF by the divisional foe Dallas Stars.
Toews will be earning an AAV (average annual value) of $2 million with the Jets this year. Jets fans are holding out hope his injury isn't serious and he can return soon.
