A new statement has revealed that a trade may be set to erupt between the Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens, which would see Chicago acquire Connor Bedard's ideal winger.

In the midst of an ongoing rebuild, the Chicago Blackhawks are still in dire need of prioritizing finding the ideal linemate to coincide with the organization's top forward, Connor Bedard.
That being said, a highly skilled winger has now been linked to potentially making his way to Chicago.

New forward linked to be acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks

As Connor Bedard enters his third season in the National Hockey League, the Blackhawks are desperate to find his perfect linemate, and luckily enough, a new winger has been linked to making his way to Chicago.
This winger is the Montreal Canadiens' Joshua Roy.

Joshua Roy surfaces as ideal winger for Connor Bedard

During the 2023 IIHF World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, which were held from December 26, 2022, to January 5, 2023, Canada won the gold medal.
Quebec native Joshua Roy earned the primary assist on the game-winning goal, and he would finish the tournament tied for fourth overall in scoring, as he recorded five goals and six assists in just seven games.
This winger also earned the respect of Connor Bedard, moments before this young star was drafted No. 1 overall by the Chicago Blackhawks a few months later.
«He's the player that's kind of popped to me the most,» Bedard told reporters moments before the tournament began. «I didn't know too much about him before the summer and he's unbelievable. You watch him in practice, and I don't think he misses a shot. He's so smart. He's someone I love watching.»

Bedard continued:
«He was unreal,» Bedard expressed after the game. «He's one of the smartest players that I've got to play with, and how he dominated that game and stepped up his game when it mattered most is incredible.»

Should the Chicago Blackhawks pursue Montreal Canadiens' Joshua Roy?

Roy, who is now 22 years of age, has already earned Bedard's admiration and has shown immense promise within his time in the NHL.
Additionally, this skilled forward has just been sent back to the AHL in Montreal's first wave of preseason cuts, meaning the Canadiens would most likely pick up the phone if Davidson comes calling.
Roy is expected to not cost too much either, leaving many to believe the risk is worth the reward, yet it is uncertain whether or not the Blackhawks will pursue this talent.
