Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks are taking on the Detroit Red Wings in the United Center for tonight's preseason game, and we got to see a new dimension to his game, laying a crushing hit on defenseman Axel Sandin-Pellikka.

The Chicago Blackhawks are hosting the Detroit Red Wings at the United Center tonight.
While this is a match of wills between two rebuilding teams, you'll find one 1st overall pick in 2023 at the epicenter tonight. After two seasons in the NHL, he's won a Calder Trophy and has played 128 games in the league.
This offseason, he's worked on adding an extra dimension to his game, namely speed and size.
It looks like he's accomplished what he's after, when you see this crushing hit laid on Red Wings prospect #44 Axel Sandin-Pellikka.

Connor Bedard Takes Top Red Wings Prospect Out of the Play

You can see that Bedard's game has a new bite this season, as he's been unafraid of attacking the opposition.
A sight we've not seen before from the 1st round pick, until today.
The center's hit on Pellikka would send the prospect into the boards, removing another key player from the Red Wings in the process.
The two-way defenseman made the jump from Sweden to North America at the end of last season, and Bedard's given him a rude awakening to NHL ice tonight.
Despite this physicality from Bedard, the Detroit Red Wings are leading the Blackhawks by 1 goal.
Ironically, led by former coach Jeff Blashill.
The team will need Bedard and Foligno to lead the team into the win column, and they'll need to find more ways of controlling the ice.
