While both the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins are in summer mode, they've pulled off a trade with one another.
The Blackhawks have traded the rights to defenseman Victor Söderström to the Bruins and in return received a 7th round pick along with defenseman prospect Ryan Mast.
The Blackhawks have traded the rights to defenseman Victor Söderström to the Bruins for a seventh-round pick and defenseman prospect Ryan Mast.
Söderström was originally taken with the 11th overall pick by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He came to Chicago when he was acquired from the Utah Mammoth (formerly the Coyotes) along withAku Raty and the contract of Shea Weber in exchange for a 5th round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
Via Dobber Prospects, he's described as a smart, 2-way defenseman.
Smart, two-way defenseman who projects to become possibly a top-pairing blueliner. Great puck-mover, good skater and has an excellent shot.

Meanwhile, Mast has played 44 games over the last 2 years with the Bruins AHL affiliate Providence Bruins. He was taken 181st overall by the Bruins in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
He's also played for the Sarnia Sting of the OHL. Via RecruitScouting, his puck-moving abilities are his biggest strengths.
Mast's stretch passes are a great asset. He is able to gather the puck in his own-end; take a stride or two, assess and deliver accurate and firm two-line passes onto the tape of his forwards. His passes are very hard and well directed, attributed to his obvious physical strength and both timing/passing vision. The angles on his passes are impressive too. He's able to dish 45-degree passes through multiple layers of defence with consistency.
