The Chicago Blackhawks have been in trade talks/a> to acquire a former 9th overall pick from the Minnesota Wild, but a recent statement from a team analyst has suggested they may be making the wrong move.

In a recent column/a>, Blackhawks reporter Tab Bamford has urged general manager Kyle Davidson to avoid acquiring the 23-year-old forward.
Marco Rossi, who's coming off of a breakout year in his second NHL season with the Minnesota Wild, tallying up 60 points to make him a hot commodity on the trade market this summer.
The Wild and Rossi are far apart in contract discussions, and he is available on their trade block. A recent message sent by Tab Bamford advises the Blackhawks to avoid acquiring the young forward.
"At 5'9" and 182 lbs, Rossi is a small center. As much skill as he brings to the table, the Blackhawks don't need another undersized center. Further complicating things, Davidson is set on making Connor Bedard his 1C and Frank Nazar his 2C. While Nazar could make an excellent winger, Nazar also has the potential to be a solid 2C."

Where Marco Rossi would fit in the Blackhawks lineup

Bamford notes Rossi would only fit on the team's fourth line, which would not only be a waste of skill, but not an ideal fit.
"Rossi would not be a fit on a third line, and rolling three lines with smaller centers wouldn't be ideal. Unless Rossi pans out, and you build three skill lines with a fourth checking line. But teams rarely, if ever, build a fourth line.

While Marco Rossi is a nice player, I don't think the Blackhawks should consider pursuing him. Luckily for the Hawks, there are other, more enticing players they could acquire."

This offseason is set to be a busy one for the Blackhawks, and with several things to address, it should not include Marco Rossi.
