Former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman and Stanley Cup winner Seth Jones has issued an apology to the team long after he was traded to the Florida Panthers for goaltender Spencer Knight, as his controversial comments about the Blackhawks set off his friend Nick Foligno.

The Chicago Blackhawks' time with Seth Jones met an untimely end, as he was dealt to the Florida Panthers in March for Spencer Knight.
The deal would send Seth Jones and a 4th-round pick to the Panthers; in return, the Blackhawks received their starting goalie, Spencer Knight, and a 1st-round pick.
Now, after he's won a Stanley Cup and had time to reflect upon his controversial comments, which led to a spat with the team (and Captain Nick Foligno).
He has issued an apology.
«I was taken aback,» Jones said Monday ahead of Tuesday's season-opener against the Blackhawks. «But at the same time, I think it was difficult when I was asked comparisons and all this stuff. It was really hard for me to answer those questions. Maybe I said some things that maybe came out wrong. I never meant any disrespect to that organization or the players there. We were trying our hardest every night. We were trying to win hockey games, and guys are laying their body on the line and doing everything for their careers.»

Seth Jones' Public Apology Shows a Sign of Growth and a Bridge Between Himself and the Team remains open

Jones' apology has shown that even after all that had happened, there still remains respect between him and the Chicago Blackhawks organization.
He has achieved what players dream of: a Stanley Cup so soon after being traded by Kyle Davidson.
And the team was generous enough to find the perfect situation for the defenseman to take advantage of and win a cup, on a roster that included a former Blackhawk, like Gustav Forsling.
Jones finished the year playing a total of 63 games, scoring 36 points (9-27) split between the Blackhawks and Panthers.
