rivalry matchup you could hear a pin drop throughout the sold-out arena.
Medical emergency causes delay during Oilers and Flames game Saturday
According to a report from Bob Mackin of The Breaker News, a male suffered a heart attack in the stands, causing a large delay and fans to hold their breath.
Sportsnet's Louie DeBrusk, who was on the broadcast, reported that a fan collapsed while walking down the stairs in the level 100 section. The team could not provide a medical update on their condition.
The medical emergency caused ambulances to storm Rogers Place later on Saturday night. Each NHL team is required to have an ambulance in attendance at all times, so officials could not let the game begin until a replacement arrived.
Players on both benches tried their best to refrain from looking in the stands during the delay, after receiving word from the on-ice officials, they look distressed.
The scene unfolded right behind the bench of the Calgary Flames, and it was a truly horrifying moment for anyone in attendance to witness.
Us at Hawksinsider send our best wishes to the fan, in hopes for a speedy recovery.
