There are now 3 trade candidates for the Chicago Blackhawks in the upcoming days before the new year starts, will any of them soon be on the move?
It's going to be a critical year for the Chicago Blackhawks, who are expected to take a leap forward in the 3rd season of former 1st overall Draft pick Connor Bedard along with it also being the 1st year behind the bench of new coach Jeff Blashill.
GM Kyle Davidson has been rumoured to be looking to move on from a handful of players, and per analyst Michael DeRosa, there are 3 most likely candidates to be traded from Chicago in the near future.
He listed Connor Murphy, Ilya Mikheyev and Lukas Reichel as the most likely candidates to find themselves being traded by the Blackhawks at some point this year.
"It is not a secret that the Blackhawks are willing to move Reichel, and it is quite possible that a trade could go down before the season even begins. The former first-round pick needs a change of scenery, and he could generate plenty of interest due to him being a former top prospect and still only 23 years old.

All 3 players are pending UFAs and will be up for new contracts, making them the most likely candidates to be traded.
It will be a critical year in Chicago for the Blackhawks
The Blackhawks have been at the bottom of the NHL standings in each of the last several years, and even though it has resulted in them getting several top-3 draft picks, it has also been a while since they've been competitive.
Because that runs the risk of festering a losing culture with so many young players on the team, Chicago must get off to a better start this year.
Even though they're not projected to be a playoff team, getting into the thick of things in the Western Conference Wild Card chase would be a reasonable goal.
