Alex Ovechkin's comments reappear and it's likely that he's playing his final games in the NHL

Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin is in the middle of the greatest chase of his life as he sits just one goal away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time scoring record, but these appear to be his final moments in the NHL.
In 2024, Ovechkin's former KHL teams head coach of Dynamo Moscow, Vladimir Fedosov, revealed that there is a plan for him to play in Russia after he tracks down the goal record.
According to Fedosov, he wants to close out his career by playing where it all started, overseas in his home country.
Whether that is after his contract expires next season, or this summer after he breaks Gretzky's goal record, it appears that we are witnessing 'The Great 8's' final games in the NHL, but not in the hockey scene as a whole.
"He said himself that he would finish his career in Dynamo... the white-and-blue fans can definitely sleep easy. If Alexander's health is good, he will be able to play until the age of 45,"
Fedosov statedOvechkin played for Dynamo Moscow before being selected first overall by the Washington Capitals in 2004 and frequently goes back to his home country during the off-season.
The 39-year old captain signed a $9,500,000 five-year deal previously that's set to expire after next season (2025-26), but if he can score one more goal and break Gretzky's record there is no doubt the aging veteran will consider hanging up his skates, in the NHL that is.
