A few days later the Washington Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette revealed that John Carlson was ''doing good'' but was still placed on the injury reserve list on December 27th.

The latest news has been revealed by The Athletic's El-Bashir, and it's far from anything ''good''.

The writer wrote that the Capitals are ''hoping'' to have Carlson back with the team before the players start, which is in April, four months away. On a positive note Nicklas Backstrom and enforcer Tom Wilson are ready to return, and it'll be official once John Carlson has been played on IR. It appears as if Carlson will require facial-reconstruction surgery.
