The Great One Jokes When He Knew it Was Time To Retire

With Today being Canada Day we've got to talk about not only the best Player ever from Canada but the absolute greatest player to ever lace up his skate the "Great One" Wayne Gretzky.
If you were lucky enough to be able to watch Wayne Gretzky play you know what we were truly blessed Gretzky who was very humble during his illustrious 21 year career would put asses in seats were ever he played. Gretzky is a huge reason theirs hockey teams in California and other places like Vegas. When he was dealt from the Edmonton Oilers to Los Angeles Kings many were skeptical about it. But Wayne made it work and made fans in Southern California interested in hockey.
Gretzky would win four Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers dynasty and took the Los Angeles kings to their First Stanly Cup final in 1993 but, would ultimately lose to the Montreal Canadiens who lead by the goaltending of another legend Patrick Roy.
Gretzky would then make two more stops playing his buddy Brett Hull in St Louis before making his final stop in the big Apple were the Great One would decide to retire. Recently Gretzky was asked what made him decide now was the time to retire? Gretzky would reply:
"The year I retired I scored nine goals. Everybody said 'You can play one more year', and I remember saying 'Nine goals, that used to be a good weekend. I think it's time for me to retire"
Gretzky played is 1,487 games and would score a total of 894 goals and would rack up 1,963 assists for a total of 2,857 points. Wayne Gretzky would also have have his number #99 Jersey retired by the NHL.
