After knocking off fifteen straight teams over the past 3 seasons the Tampa Bay Lightning's reign of terror is over losing in game six Sunday night by the hands of the Colorado Avalanche.
The Tampa Bay Lightning looked to be on their way to becoming the first team in the salary cap era to win the Stanley Cup three years in a row, the only issue was they got bulldozed by an Avalanche.
Today we learned all the Injures the Lightning players were playing through and it was extensive. However, to be fair the Colorado Avalanche had their share of injuries also both teams were beat up badly.
After the Lightning were eliminated everyone was saying the Tampa Bay Lightning "Dynasty" was over including Sportsnet Chris Cuthbert who called the Stanley Cup Final game on commentary.
The Media is Tampa would interview the Lightning after loss and would ask The Lightning If they were over?
Stamkos would reply,
"Who said we're done? This core is here. We've battled. We've been through everything you can think of and, for the most part, we've found a way to come out on top."
This was also stated by Tampa Bay Lightning's Head Coach Jon Cooper who also believes his team will be back contending next season saying:
"The playoff streak ended. But it's not the end of our run, I've been extremely fortunate in my coaching career to have won championships at different levels, and those are the teams you remember. Sometimes, you don't remember as much that a team didn't win. But I think I'll remember this team the most. What these guys went through, with the injuries . it's been well-documented what kind of warriors they are. You should see what's going on with injuries.
