Chicago Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno has taken a temporary leave of absence from the organization to deal with a family matter involving his daughter, the team announced on Wednesday.
If there's one bright side to the current Chicago Blackhawks season, it's the future faces of the franchise showing great promise.
What would a group of young ones be without their captain?
1200-game veteran Nick Foligno's leadership has been noticed on several occasions, including most recently leading the team to their first win against the Utah Mammoth.
Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, they will be without their leader briefly, as he's taken a leave of absence from the team.
Nick Foligno takes brief leave of absence from the Chicago Blackhawks
"Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno is taking a brief leave of absence as his daughter undergoes follow-up surgery related to her congenital heart disease. Nick, nor the Blackhawks, will provide any further comment at this time."
"Milana Foligno turned 12 yesterday. She's had two valve-replacement surgeries already, one when she was less than a month old. The Folignos are ambassadors for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada."
