With the NHL Entry Draft one week away in Montreal, Habs fans are getting hype and wondering who are the Montreal Canadiens going to choose? Shane Wright, Juraj Slafkovsky, or Logan Cooley the Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes has a tough decision.
However things just got even more interesting as the New Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald wants Juraj Slafkovsky and according to TSN Hockey's Pierre Lebrun The Devils want to make a deal to draft first overall to make sure they get Slafkovsky.
"Pierre Lebrun mentioning that New Jersey has contacted Montreal to move up a selection (from the 2nd pick to the 1st pick overall) to take Slafkovsky is completely consistent with what I've heard from my sources, regarding the Devils preferring Slaf over Wright. Rumor has it that MTL likes Slaf more, too, though." - Grant McCagg, former Habs scout
This would definitely be a smart move for Hughes they would still get Shane Wright and compensation for the trade in either a young player, prospect, or more picks.
So, according to Pierre LeBrun this is what he believes:
TO MONTREAL: Second overall pick (Shane Wright) ++
TO NEW JERSEY: First overall pick (Juraj Slafkovsky)
As for the "++", the Devils could possibly add a young player, a prospect, or draft picks.
