Blackhawks came up short in the Kane deal.
There were high hopes in Hawks Nation that a return of Patrick Kane would be fruitful. The Blackhawks were hoping for a first-round draft pick to come back to them after sending Kane to the New York Rangers in hopes that he would find his way to the Stanley Cup final.
This was not the case tonight as the Rangers were eliminated from the playoffs by the New Jersey Devils. The Devils blanked the Rangers 4 to nothing in a Game 7 showdown that stunned Rangers fans. One would have expected in a game seven to score at least one or two goals from a vaunted offence that was built on superstars through the trade deadline.
It appears the New York Rangers have not learned their lessons from the past, those superstars bought at the deadline do not always guarantee you a Cup final.
The Blackhawks now will receive a second-round pick in this trade, had even though keens playoffs have been brief he played seven games, scored one goal, with five assists for six points and had three power-play points.
The Devils now go on to meet the Carolina Hurricanes in round two.
