Blackhawks Forward Signs 2-Year Extension

The Blackhawks and forward Reese Johnson have agreed to a 2-year extension. This will keep Johnson here through the 2023-2024 season. This deal will have an annual average value of $800,000. Wonder if this is a sign of things to come with guys like Dylan Strome and Sam Lafferty still without extensions. Not that either of those guys have been world beaters or anything. But if Reese Johnson's play has warranted an extension, then Strome and Lafferty certainly have done just enough to earn one as well. Guess time will tell as to what the Blackhawks decide to do going forward.

Quick note on Reese Johnson's numbers on the year. Small sample size, so definitely to be taken with a grain of salt. In 28 games played, he's sitting at 6 points total on the season with 5 assists and 1 goal. He's averaging just over 10 minutes of time on ice at 10:12.
