It looks like the time of former Chicago Blackhawks forward Artemi Panarin with the New York Rangers could be coming to an end, as he's in the last year of his current contract.

There's no telling what the long-term plan for the New York Rangers with star forward Artemi Panarin is.
He's in the last year of his current contract, and there doesn't appear to be much progress in terms of a new deal that would keep him in the Big Apple beyond 2026.
NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman recently said that Panarin has been approached by the Rangers and has been asked to take a more team-friendly contract to better help them win, much in the same way that the Los Angeles Kings did so with captain Anze Kopitar, who accepted.
But it appears that Panarin has yet to show any signs of wanting to take a 'team friendly' deal.
"The L.A. Kings went to him and said, 'We need you to take a little bit less it will really help us win' and Kopitar did that at 2x$7 [million]. I understand at some point this offseason the Rangers had that kind of conceptual discussion with Panarin. 'Is there a way that you could do for the Rangers what Kopitar did for the Kings?' «I don't know if that's going to be a possibility, but I do know that the two sides had the conversation, and obviously at this point, Panarin is unsigned, so we'll see where that one goes.

So far this year, Panarin has 6 points (1G, 5A) in 7 games played.

Artemi Panarin began his NHL career with the Chicago Blackhawks

Panarin started his NHL career with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2015 after he signed with them as an undrafted free agent.
He won the Calder Trophy in 2016 as the NHL's best rookie after he had 77 points (30 G, 47 A).
But he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets after just his 2nd year in Chicago so they could bring back former Stanley Cup winner Brandon Saad in a deal that most Chicago fans consider to be one of the worst in team history.
After playing 2 years in Columbus, he signed a 7-year deal with the Rangers in 2019.
