As Marty Walsh continues to reshape the NHLPA as he sees fit, the union will receive a face-lift.
Matthieu Schneider was the NHLPA's number 2 man, but Walsh has since removed him. Walsh, who previously served as US Secretary of Labor, took over as executive director last year.
Sources say Mathieu Schneider and the #NHLPA have parted ways, after 12 years at the No. 2 post in the players' union. Told the push was made by executive director Marty Walsh.
Schneider, who has been with the organization for 12 years. After retiring from the NHL in 2010, Schneider was involved in many major decisions, such as changing the rules on boarding and headshots.
Schneider played eight seasons with the Montreal Canadiens during his 21-year NHL career. He played 1,289 games in his career, scoring 223 goals and contributing 743 assists. The Hockey Hall of Fame inducted Schneider in 2015.
It is certain that there will be more developments in the future.
