Avalanche Place Former 16th Overall Pick on Waivers
News broke that is pretty surprising in the hockey world today.
Today, the Colorado Avalanche released 23-year-old winger Martin Kaut. Kaut is 190 pounds and is 6'2. He is a former 1st round pick in the year 2018, selected by the Avs.
You may look at that and say he isn't a big body. But he actually is. Martin joins puck battles in the corners and gets dirty, and because of his size he has great speed and agility.
He was supposed to be a phenomenal player, but nothing has really worked out for him yet. Martin Kaus has just six points, 3 a piece in goals and assists, in 38 games, with a -2 in his career. We'll see what team will pick him up, because I don't think he is a player who'll be passed up on.
Teams should look at him and take advantage of this, he's only 23 and can still develop pretty nicely, and even has 38 games under his belt, would slot nicely into a rebuilding organization like the Blackhawks in a low risk, high return scenario.
