Some trades appear to be in the making in Chicago as the Blackhawks are set to part ways with defensemen.

Over the past few seasons, Chicago has drafted and developed extremely well on the back end. Now, the team has a clear surplus of young defensemen and could look to make some trades to address other lineup needs.
According to Frank Seravalli, the Blackhawks are carrying nine or ten legitimate NHL-caliber defensemen, and moves could be on the way.

Hawks Set To Trade Defensemen, Per Frank Seravalli

The NHL insider Frank Seravalli addressed the issue in a recent intervention:
"I think the Blackhawks are probably looking at nine to 10 legitimate, realistic NHL defensemen, and someone is going to have to be on the move."

"But the interesting thing for the Chicago Blackhawks and looking at their defense moving forward is, where's everyone gonna fit? They've got so many young guys on that back end, Kaiser part of it, and I think Kaiser and Allan could be your sort of perfect, ideal, prototypical, third pair moving forward."

With training camp just weeks away, one name to watch is Wyatt Kaiser. The young defenseman finished his entry-level contract this summer but has yet to agree to a new deal.
The Blackhawks are expected to carry seven, maybe eight, defensemen on the roster this season.
That means several young players could rotate between the NHL and AHL or end up traded.
Chicago's prospect pipeline has already produced results. Sam Rinzel, Artyom Levshunov, Kevin Korchinski, Ethan Del Mastro, Louis Crevier, Nolan Allan, Wyatt Kaiser, and Alex Vlasic all logged NHL minutes last season.
Ultimately, Vlasic, Rinzel, and Levshunov seem safest.
Others, including Korchinski, Del Mastro, and Crevier, could find themselves on the trade block depending on how things unfold in the coming months.
