The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired their own Kirill Kaprizov: A true steal by Kyle Davidson
The Chicago Blackhawks organization acquired its own Kirill Kaprizov in a true steal by General Manager Kyle Davidson.
There is a lot of young talent within the Chicago Blackhawks prospect pool. After years of rebuilding, there is a lot to be excited about, but the development of
Connor Bedard,
Frank Nazar, and
Spencer Knight has been very fun to watch.
Indeed,
Roman Kantserov's KHL contract will expire at the end of the current season, and he will be able to come to North America for the 2026-27 season.
Blackhawks Made a Steal at the 2023 Draft With Roman Kantserov
The 2023 Draft was a big one for the Blackhawks, with Bedard and
Oliver Moore drafted in the first round.
However, Kyle Davidson's second-round pick, Roman Kantserov, is gaining a lot of attention in the KHL, where he's been developing for the past two seasons.
Kantserov has been off to a great start this season, with 12 goals and eight assists in 19 games so far, which is a pace for 72 points.
To compare, Kirill Kaprizov scored 51 points in 57 games:

• Pace: 43G-29A-72P
• 1.05 PPG (Highest mark for U22 KHL skaters all time*)
Kaprizov
• 57GP | 30G-21A-51P

He scored two points last night, including this goal, highlighting his great shot:
If he and
Anton Frondell come to the NHL next season, the Blackhawks will have a lot more depth. Both of their developments will be interesting to follow this year. Stay tuned.
