Trade underway for the Chicago Blackhawks due to a defensive logjam
The Chicago Blackhawks organization appears set to part ways with a veteran defenseman due to a logjam at the blue line.
The Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson has built an impressive prospect pool over the recent years.
A recent report from The Athletic highlighted how good the future looks in Chicago, rating the Blackhawks prospect pool as the second best in the entire NHL, behind the San Jose Sharks.
In fact, there are so many talented players that the organization will surely consider parting ways with a couple of them, according to Frank Seravalli.
Chicago Blackhawks Appear Poised To Trade Defenseman Due To Logjam At The Blue Line
Figuring out who to trade will be the hard part. Considering the high market for right-handed defensemen and young players in general, the team will be in a position to make a massive acquisition if they were to put some defensemen on the trade block.
The next few seasons will be crucial for all these young players, who will have a lot to prove entering the next training camp.
The 32-year-old is entering the final season of his deal and would be a great option for teams looking for rentals at the deadline.
However, parting ways with him would leave the blue line with no true veterans, which could be a risky bet.
This surplus at the blue line is a good problem to have, but nonetheless, one that Davidson must fix soon.
