Unexpected move between the Blackhawks and Red Wings involving 23-year-old defenseman in a trade proposal

The Chicago Blackhawks are being urged to trade defenseman Wyatt Kaiser, who is holding out for a new contract, to their former divisional foe, the Detroit Red Wings.
Defenseman Wyatt Kaiser is the last remaining RFA for the Chicago Blackhawks to sign, and so far there has not been much progress between his camp and Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson on common ground.
Per analyst Todd Matthews of Octopus Thrower, Kaiser's holdout presents Red Wings executive Steve Yzerman a prime opportunity , and Chicago wouldn't miss him much because of the names ready to emerge and take his place.
"If that holdout persists, why shouldn't Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman inquire? One look at the Blackhawks blueliners, and they got cornerstones like Alex Vlasic and Artyom Levshunov. Plus, Sam Rinzel, Kevin Korchinski, and Nolan Allan under contract. Not to mention, Connor Murphy's the veteran presence tasked with leading the kids."
His puck-moving ability is something the Wings can use, even if he's primarily only playing between 17 and 18 minutes per game.
Kaiser is only 23, and if acquired by Detroit and things work out, he could be a long-term piece.
Wyatt Kaiser split last year between the NHL and AHL
Kaiser, who was taken with the 81st overall pick by the Blackhawks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft while playing for the University of Minnesota-Duluth, split last year between the Blackhawks and the AHL affiliate Rockford Ice Hogs.
He played in 57 games for the Blackhawks last year and had 8 points (4G, 4A). He has 98 total games of NHL experience with 18 points (4G, 14A).
